Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro is reportedly set to bring significant hardware upgrades, including the new A20 Pro chip and enhanced camera capabilities. These improvements, however, may come with a notable price increase.
Most recently, analyst Jeff Pu reported that Apple could raise iPhone 18 Pro pricing by between $250 and $300, potentially pushing the starting price to around $1,399. If accurate, that would represent a substantial jump and further reinforce Apple’s positioning of the Pro lineup as a premium flagship tier.
For Apple users, a higher price tag will mean weighing the value of the latest performance and camera enhancements against cost. The A20 Pro chip is expected to deliver faster processing and better efficiency, which could translate into smoother multitasking and improved battery life. Camera upgrades are also expected to appeal to users focused on photography and video creation.
From a broader industry perspective, Apple’s pricing strategy reflects the continued push among smartphone makers toward higher-end devices with more advanced chips, cameras, and AI capabilities. A $250 to $300 increase would also test how much premium buyers are willing to absorb, particularly if upgrade cycles continue to lengthen.
Strategically, the expected price increase could affect more than hardware sales. Higher device costs may slow upgrades, influencing accessory demand and app adoption, while the improved hardware could create new opportunities for developers building more demanding camera, AI, and productivity experiences.
Apple has not confirmed pricing, so the reported increase remains a rumor for now. The company’s official announcement will ultimately determine whether the iPhone 18 Pro’s hardware upgrades are enough to justify what could become one of the biggest Pro-model price jumps in recent years.
